I'm using windows XP SP2. Whenever i start my system the error message comes."Windows explorer has encountered a problem and need to close.

I think there's 2 likely possibilites here:


1) A virus infection that has slipped past your protection, and


2) A corruption of a windows file


First, please check your Event Viewer (this assumes you're using XP). Go to Start...Run...and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the left hand pane will be 3 categories (Application, Security, and System). Please click on each one in turn while viewing the messages in the right hand pane. You may need to right click on any Error message and select "Properties" to view the exact error message. Please let us know what error messages that you've found.


In order to check the file corruption issue you can do the following steps:


1) Run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run prompt. This will scan your system for any changed windows protected files and will prompt you for your CD to replace them. Please visit Windows Update immediately afterwards to ensure that one of your updates hasn't been changed.


2) If that doesn't correct it, then I'd try a repair install of XP. This will preserve your programs and settings, while replacing all of the files that windows needs to operate. Reply:it is a problem comes from LAN card.so u need to disconnect any network cable plugged in the LAN card.then run the system.now the message do no come.now run the disk clean up and also defragmenter.now switch off the computer.now reconnect the network cable.and start the computer.ur problem will Be gone.
Reply:As per My knowledge You Can Put down the Windows XP SP2 in CD _ROM and install the Operating system in Repair Mode. I'm sure your problem will vanish.

Press F8, After your BIOS ends, Go to Safe Mode.


Un install as much Suspicious Application as you can.





Play with all utilities of F8,





Create a Bootable Window 98 Floppy


How - On a 98 System, Click on Add/Remove, Click on the third tab. There U can make a Bootable Floppy.


Now, Restart your computer. Put the floppy in, Go to BIOS (press DEL) Set First Boot Device to Floppy Disk.

This requires that you should have 98 installed on your system.


Always have 98, xp, {xp x64 (Recommended for 64 bit Processors), Give Emphasis on Winodw Servers OS (To understand Networking).

Reply:First update and scan your computer with your security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If your computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can be run in Safe Mode should you prefer. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

- Run


- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the " / ")





What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have major file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

Reply:if you can successfully reboot in safe-mode (hit f8 during startup and select the 'startup in safemode with cd-rom' option) and replace that file it mentioned (advapi32.dl) with the original version from the install disk, that could solve the problem.





otherwise you will probably have to resintall windows.
