How can I solve the following problem?

I'm using php 5, Dev-PHP and SQLite 3_3_8.

How can I solve the following problem?
Some sql data object class definition is not being found.

So check for a typo if none then

How do I explain to my mother that I will not allow her to have my children with out my husband or I present?

I had a very rough childhood. My mother had a drinking problem%26amp; was often verbally and mentally abusive. Despite her failure as a mother, she seems to love my DD %26amp; DS very much. However, she has VERY outdated ideas and info on child-rearing and often questions my decisions(even though I have a degree in Child Dev). We feel very strongly about our children's routine and nutrition, but she seems to think we are too rigid. My mother lives several states away, so we only have to be around her once or twice a year. She thinks I'm "anal" b/c I don't allow her to babysit or take my children on outings w/o my DH or I present, especially b/c I allow my in-laws to have them often. I have explained that my in-law respects our wishes so she gets to have the kids, but mom still argues about it. We let her spend time with them, just supervised. I know mom wouldn't treat my kids like she did me, but she cant even go a day w/o having several drinks. How do I let mom know my feelings w/o hurting her

I think you've answered your own question: you just be very up front and honest with her. You can still be compassionate, but you must be firm - they are your children.

Reply:Your mom knows that you want your routines and rules followed, but she is still arguing with you.

She refuses to respect you as a mother. Whether or not she is "hurt" by the fact that you are trying

to be a good mother - something she clearly wasn't - really doesn't matter. What matters is that

you keep your kids SAFE, and you are doing that. I really wouldn't try to "explain" anything to

her. She knows the rules, and she argues about it all, so there's nothing to explain. Just tell her no!

If she doesn't like it, oh well. Quite frankly, I'm not so sure I would even allow the kids around her

*with* supervision, since she still drinks every day.

Reply:The simple way to find what type of motherboard you have is to remove the side case of your computer. Look at the motherboard and see if you can see a name. if not then look for a set of numbers. Some model numbers start with letters and end in numbers. Then after you have found that you can do a google search which will provide you with what type of a motherboard you have.

Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) in Hindus Scriptures (Only for my Hindu brothers)?

I) Muhammad (pbuh) prophesised in Bhavishya Purana

1. According to Bhavishya Purana in the Prati Sarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 5 to 8.

"A malecha(belonging to a foreign country and speaking a foreign language)spiritual teacher will appear with his companions.His name will be Mohammad.Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Maha Dev Arab(of angelic disposition)a bath in the Panchgavya and the Ganga water(i.e.purifying him of all sins)offered him the present of his sincere devotion and showing him all reverence said,"I make obeisance to thee.O ye!The pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a great force to kill the Devil and you yourself have been protected from the malecha opponents"

The Prophecy clearly states:(i) The name of the Prophet as Mohammad.

(ii)He will belong to Arabia.The Sanskrit word Marusthal means a sandy track of land or a desert.

(iii)Special mention is made of the companions of the Prophet, i.e. the Sahabas.No other Prophet had as many companions as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

(iv)He is referred as the pride of mankind (Parbatis nath).The Glorious Qur’an reconfirms this

"And thou(standest)on an exalted standard of character"

Some people may argue that Raja Bhoj mentioned in the prophecy lived in the 11th century C.E. 500 years after the advent of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)and was the descendant in the 10th generation of Raja Shalivahan. These people fail to realise that there was not only one Raja of the name Bhoj.The Egyptian Monarchs were called as Pharaoh and the Roman Kings were known as Caesar, similarly the Indian Rajas were given the title of Bhoj.There were several Raj Bhoj who came before the one in 11th Century C.E.

The Prophet did not physically take a bath in the Panchgavya and the water of Ganges.Since the water of Ganges is considered holy, taking bath in the Ganges is an idiom,which means washing away sins or immunity from all sorts of sins.Here the prophecy implies that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sinless, i.e. Maasoom.

2.According to Bhavishya Purana in the Pratisarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 10 to 27 Maharishi Vyas has prophesised:

"The Malecha have spoiled the well-known land of the Arabs. Arya Dharma is not to be found in the country.Before also there appeared a misguided fiend whom I had killed; he has now again appeared being sent by a powerful enemy. To show these enemies the right path and to give them guidance, the well-known Muhammad (pbuh),is busy in bringing the Pishachas to the right path.O Raja, You need not go to the land of the foolish Pishachas,you will be purified through my kindness even where you are.At night, he of the angelic disposition,the shrewd man,in the guise of Pishacha said to Raja Bhoj,"O Raja! Your Arya Dharma has been made to prevail over all religions,but according to the commandments of Ishwar Parmatma,I shall enforce the strong creed of the meat eaters.My followers will be men circumcised,without a tail (on his head),keeping beard, creating a revolution announcing the Aadhaan(the Muslim call for prayer)and will be eating all lawful things.He will eat all sorts of animals except swine.They will not seek purification from the holy shrubs,but will be purified through warfare.On account of their fighting the irreligious nations, they will be known as Musalmaans.I shall be the originator of this religion of the meat-eating nations"

The Prophecy states that:

(i)The evil doers have corrupted the Arab land.

(ii)Arya Dharma is not found in that land.

(iii)The Indian Raja need not go the Arab land since his purification will take place in India after the musalmaan will arrive in India.

(iv)The coming Prophet will attest the truth of the Aryan faith, i.e.Monotheism and will reform the misguided people.

(v) he Prophet’s followers will be circumcised.They will be without a tail on the head and bear a beard and will create a great revolution.

(vi)They will announce the Aadhaan, i.e.‘the Muslim call for prayer’

(vii)He will only eat lawful things and animals but will not eat pork.The Qur’an confirms this in no less than 4 different places:

In Surah Al-Baqarah chapter 2 verse 173

In Surah Al-Maidah chapter 5 verse 3

"Forbidden to you for food are dead meat, blood, flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah"

(viii)They will not purify with grass like the Hindus but by means of sword they will fight their irreligious people.

(ix)They will be called musalmaan.

(x)They will be a meat-eating nation.

The eating of herbivorous animals is confirmed by the Qur’an in Surah Maidah,chapter 5 verse 1 and in Surah Muminun chapter 23 verse 21

3.According to Bhavishya Purana, Parv - III Khand 1 Adhay 3 Shloka 21-23:

"Corruption and persecution are found in seven sacred cities of Kashi, etc.India is inhabited by Rakshas, Shabor, Bhil and other foolish people.In the land of Malechhas,the followers of the Malechha dharma (Islam) are wise and brave people.All good qualities are found in Musalmaans and all sorts of vices have accumulated in the land of the Aryas.Islam will rule in India and its islands.Having known these facts, O Muni, glorify the name of thy lord"

The Qur’an confirms this in Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 33 and in Surah Al Saff chapter 61 verse 9:

"It is He who hath sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth,to proclaim it over all religion,even though the Pagans may detest (it)"

A similar message is given in Surah Fatah chapter 48 verses 28 ending with, "and enough is Allah as a witness”

I have read some verses in Veid, sacred book of Hindus. One of the key personality in them is "MOHAN MADDAN".

In sanskirat the extension of the letter "Noon" at the end of word is used sometimes without meaning or give the importance, or written in extended form, or making it proper e.g. in english "The" is used, say "The Man", so even if you exclude word "The", meaning of "Man" remains.

Similarly and by the grammitical rule and keep the history together, if exclude "Noon" from the word, (above it is written as "AN" for pronounciation, and equivilant to "Noon" in sansikarat)

Including "Noon" or "AN"

MOHAN MADDAN

Exluding "Noon" or "AN"

MOH MADD

Which is equivilant to the word in Arabic, "Mohamadd", saw.

However there are other names also which resembles with the name of Prophet Muhammad when literal gramatical convert is done, and secondly also mention there in the quality of Prophet Muhammad saw.

The main problem what we have seen is that they thought the prophesies of future as the fairy tales of past, in many instances. And made a perfect dream world.

For instance there is a personality of "Manu or Man'noo", and there is same history associated with as it is appeared in Quran or from other sources, "The Massive Storm" which some times called "Tufan-e-Nuh". Gramitically and Historically this is the same personality in sanskirat you call him Manu (Mannoo) or Nooh (Nuh), those who know sanskirat and arabic understand well what i am saying, but historical identity and story can be verified easily.

Same is the case with Prophet Musa (Mosses) pbuh, that he was thrown in the river by His real Mother, this whole incident is identical as mentioned in Quran. Please check.

Most Interesting "Kaaba-The House Of Allah"

The square building "Kaaba" is considered Holy in Islam. And all Muslims whenever and wherever they may be, when they use to pray they turn there face in the direction of "Kaaba", and to show the unity.

It is quite interesting that all hindu worship houses "Mandirs" are in the same direction of "Holy Kaaba". Question is why they keep this direction and what is history of this "Holy House" in common, never disclosed by the "Pundits".

I am interested in Game Development.Very Comfortable with C/C++, graphics algos.Basics of Win32. Can do simple object Models in 3dsMax, Texture mapping, lighting etc. Started of with OpenGL. Doing Eng, 3rd year. How should i proceed so i can see myself in the Industry ??

Is it seriously neccessary to do a Masters in Game Dev??

Right now, what could i look into to get my first games up and running ??

For DirectX, should i be using VB .NET or VC++ ???

Others have pointed you to some good resources, so I'll address other issues.

Getting a degree from a video game school often has the opposite result than what you'd expect -- companies are often wary of hiring such graduates. Part of the problem comes from the reputation of some older video game schools, but the main issue is that companies want somebody more rounded. Getting a full Computer Science bachelor's degree provides with all of the intellectual horsepower you need to do games, but also to do much more, making you a more attractive prospect (similarly, a traditional art degree is better than a video game-specific art degree, because it shows that you're more well-rounded and learned the theory behind the art rather than just how to use Photoshop and 3dsMax). A degree is not strictly required, but if you have one or can get one it's a great help.

The biggest thing that companies will look at is your portfolio. That means you need to have several games under your belt and presentable (or many different pieces of art, for an artist). Even if companies didn't care about your portfolio, it's still a good idea to build one because there are a lot of things you'll only learn by doing rather than just reading about.

It sounds like you already have the basics under your belt. If you know or are learning OpenGL, I'd stick with that for now. You'll still need to pick up some DirectX for non-graphic bits (or another similar platform, like SDL), since OpenGL just does graphics (not input, networking, audio, etc). I'd start out with building simple games. Write clones of minesweeper, solitaire, pac-man, tetris, break-out, etc. While you're learning, don't worry about making your own unique games. You'll get there soon enough.

As for DirectX, you should definitely use VC++. If you want to try your hand at Managed DirectX, I'd recommend you learn C# and try out the new XNA Game Studio Express from Microsoft.

to solve these problems you have to convert all the statements to standard units. My answers will be a little different because I did not round my answers to use the standard normal CDF tables that I bet your book is using. I used software, MINITAB, to get exact values.

From the standard normal tables we know that:

Muhammad (pbuh) prophesised in Bhavishya Purana

According to Bhavishya Purana in the Prati Sarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 5 to 8.

"A malecha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking a foreign language) spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Mohammad. Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Maha Dev Arab (of angelic disposition) a bath in the Panchgavya and the Ganga water (i.e. purifying him of all sins) offered him the present of his sincere devotion and showing him all reverence said, "I make obeisance to thee. O ye! The pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a great force to kill the Devil and you yourself have been protected from the malecha opponents."

The Prophecy clearly states:

The name of the Prophet as Mohammad.

He will belong to Arabia. The Sanskrit word Marusthal means a sandy track of land or a desert.

Special mention is made of the companions of the Prophet, i.e. the Sahabas. No other Prophet had as many companions as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

He is referred as the pride of mankind (Parbatis nath). The Glorious Qur’an reconfirms this

"And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character"

[Al-Qur'an 68:4]|

"Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah, a beautiful pattern (of conduct)".

He will kill the devil, i.e. abolish idol worship and all sorts of vices.

The Prophet will be given protection against his enemy.

Some people may argue that ‘Raja’ Bhoj mentioned in the prophecy lived in the 11th century C.E. 500 years after the advent of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and was the descendant in the 10th generation of Raja Shalivahan. These people fail to realise that there was not only one Raja of the name Bhoj. The Egyptian Monarchs were called as Pharaoh and the Roman Kings were known as Caesar, similarly the Indian Rajas were given the title of Bhoj. There were several Raja Bhoj who came before the one in 11th Century C.E.

The Prophet did not physically take a bath in the Panchgavya and the water of Ganges. Since the water of Ganges is considered holy, taking bath in the Ganges is an idiom, which means washing away sins or immunity from all sorts of sins. Here the prophecy implies that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sinless, i.e. Maasoom.

According to Bhavishya Purana in the Pratisarag Parv III Khand 3 Adhay 3 Shloka 10 to 27 Maharishi Vyas has prophesised:

"The Malecha have spoiled the well-known land of the Arabs. Arya Dharma is not to be found in the country. Before also there appeared a misguided fiend whom I had killed; he has now again appeared being sent by a powerful enemy. To show these enemies the right path and to give them guidance, the well-known Muhammad (pbuh), is busy in bringing the Pishachas to the right path. O Raja, You need not go to the land of the foolish Pishachas, you will be purified through my kindness even where you are. At night, he of the angelic disposition, the shrewd man, in the guise of Pishacha said to Raja Bhoj, "O Raja! Your Arya Dharma has been made to prevail over all religions, but according to the commandments of Ishwar Parmatma, I shall enforce the strong creed of the meat eaters. My followers will be men circumcised, without a tail (on his head), keeping beard, creating a revolution announcing the Aadhaan (the Muslim call for prayer) and will be eating all lawful things. He will eat all sorts of animals except swine. They will not seek purification from the holy shrubs, but will be purified through warfare. On account of their fighting the irreligious nations, they will be known as Musalmaans. I shall be the originator of this religion of the meat-eating nations."

The Prophecy states that:

The evil doers have corrupted the Arab land.

Arya Dharma is not found in that land.

The Indian Raja need not go the Arab land since his purification will take place in India after the musalmaan will arrive in India.

The coming Prophet will attest the truth of the Aryan faith, i.e. Monotheism and will reform the misguided people.

The Prophet’s followers will be circumcised. They will be without a tail on the head and bear a beard and will create a great revolution.

They will announce the Aadhaan, i.e. ‘the Muslim call for prayer’.

He will only eat lawful things and animals but will not eat pork. The Qur’an confirms this in no less than 4 different places:

In Surah Al-Baqarah chapter 2 verse 173

In Surah Al-Maidah chapter 5 verse 3

In Surah Al-Anam chapter 6 verse 145

In Surah Al-Nahl chapter 16 verse 115

"Forbidden to you for food are dead meat, blood, flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah".

They will not purify with grass like the Hindus but by means of sword they will fight their irreligious people.

They will be called musalmaan.

They will be a meat-eating nation.

The eating of herbivorous animals is confirmed by the Qur’an in Surah Maidah, chapter 5 verse 1 and in Surah Muminun chapter 23 verse 21

According to Bhavishya Purana, Parv - III Khand 1 Adhay 3 Shloka 21-23:

"Corruption and persecution are found in seven sacred cities of Kashi, etc. India is inhabited by Rakshas, Shabor, Bhil and other foolish people. In the land of Malechhas, the followers of the Malechha dharma (Islam) are wise and brave people. All good qualities are found in Musalmaans and all sorts of vices have accumulated in the land of the Aryas. Islam will rule in India and its islands. Having known these facts, O Muni, glorify the name of thy lord".

The Qur’an confirms this in Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 33 and in Surah Al Saff chapter 61 verse 9:

"It is He who hath sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it)".

A similar message is given in Surah Fatah chapter 48 verses 28 ending with, "and enough is Allah as a witness".

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Prophesised in Atharvaveda

In the 20th book of Atharvaveda Hymn 127 Some Suktas (chapters) are known as Kuntap Sukta. Kuntap means the consumer of misery and troubles. Thus meaning the message of peace and safety and if translated in Arabic means Islam.

Kuntap also means hidden glands in the abdomen. These mantras are called so probably because their true meaning was hidden and was to be revealed in future. Its hidden meaning is also connected with the navel or the middle point of this earth. Makkah is called the Ummul Qur’a the mother of the towns or the naval of the earth. In many revealed books it was the first house of Divine worship where God Almighty gave spiritual nourishment to the world. The Qur’an says in Surah Ali-Imran chapter 3, verse 96:

"The first house (of worship) appointed for men was that at Bakkah (Makkah) full of blessings and of guidance and for all kinds of beings". Thus Kuntap stands for Makkah or Bakkah.

Several people have translated these Kuntap Suktas like M. Bloomfield, Prof. Ralph Griffith, Pandit Rajaram, Pandit Khem Karan, etc.

The main points mentioned in the Kuntap Suktas i.e. in Atharvaveda book 20 Hymn 127 verses 1-13 are:

Mantra 1

He is Narashansah or the praised one (Muhammad). He is Kaurama: the prince of peace or the emigrant, who is safe, even amongst a host of 60,090 enemies.

Mantra 2

He is a camel-riding Rishi, whose chariot touches the heaven.

Mantra 3

He is Mamah Rishi who is given a hundred gold coins, ten chaplets (necklaces), three hundred good steeds and ten thousand cows.

Mantra 4

Vachyesv rebh. ‘Oh! ye who glorifies’.

The Sanskrit word Narashansah means ‘the praised one’, which is the literal translation of the Arabic word Muhammad (pbuh).

The Sanskrit word Kaurama means ‘one who spreads and promotes peace’. The holy Prophet was the ‘Prince of Peace’ and he preached equality of human kind and universal brotherhood. Kaurama also means an emigrant. The Prophet migrated from Makkah to Madinah and was thus also an Emigrant.

He will be protected from 60,090 enemies, which was the population of Makkah. The Prophet would ride a camel. This clearly indicates that it cannot be an Indian Rishi, since it is forbidden for a Brahman to ride a camel according to the Sacred Books of the East, volume 25, Laws of Manu pg. 472. According to Manu Smirti chapter 11 verse 202, "A Brahman is prohibited from riding a camel or an *** and to bathe naked. He should purify himself by suppressing his breath".

This mantra gave the Rishi's name as Mamah. No rishi in India or another Prophet had this name Mamah which is derived from Mah which means to esteem highly, or to revere, to exalt, etc. Some Sanskrit books give the Prophet’s name as ‘Mohammad’, but this word according to Sanskrit grammar can also be used in the bad sense. It is incorrect to apply grammar to an Arabic word. Actually shas the same meaning and somewhat similar pronunciation as the word Muhammad (pbuh).

He is given 100 gold coins, which refers to the believers and the earlier companions of the Prophet during his turbulent Makkan life. Later on due to persecution they migrated from Makkah to Abysinia. Later when Prophet migrated to Madinah all of them joined him in Madinah.

The 10 chaplets or necklaces were the 10 best companions of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) known as Ashra-Mubbashshira (10 bestowed with good news). These were foretold in this world of their salvation in the hereafter i.e. they were given the good news of entering paradise by the Prophet’s own lips and after naming each one he said "in Paradise". They were Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, Zubair, Abdur Rahman Ibn Auf, Saad bin Abi Waqqas, Saad bin Zaid and Abu Ubaidah (May Allah be well-pleased with all of them).

The Sanskrit word Go is derived from Gaw which means ‘to go to war’. A cow is also called Go and is a symbol of war as well as peace. The 10,000 cows refer to the 10,000 companions who accompanied the Prophet (pbuh) when he entered Makkah during Fateh Makkah which was a unique victory in the history of mankind in which there was no blood shed. The 10,000 companions were pious and compassionate like cows and were at the same time strong and fierce and are described in the Holy Quran in Surah Fatah:

"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other."

[Al-Qur'an 48:29]

This mantra calls the Prophet as Rebh which means one who praises, which when translated into Arabic is Ahmed, which is another name for the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

Battle of the Allies described in the Vedas.

It is mentioned in Atharvaveda Book XX Hymn 21 verse 6, "Lord of the truthful! These liberators drink these feats of bravery and the inspiring songs gladdened thee in the field of battle. When thou renders vanquished without fight the ten thousand opponents of the praying one, the adoring one."

This Prophecy of the Veda describes the well-known battle of Ahzab or the battle of the Allies during the time of Prophet Muhammed. The Prophet was victorious without an actual conflict which is mentioned in the Qur’an in Surah Ahzab:

"When the believers saw the confederate forces they said, "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience."

[Al-Qur'an 33:22]

The Sanskrit word karo in the Mantra means the ‘praying one’ which when translated into Arabic means ‘Ahmed’, the second name of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh).

The 10,000 opponents mentioned in the Mantra were the enemies of the Prophet and the Muslims were only 3000 in number.

The last words of the Mantra aprati ni bashayah means the defeat was given to the enemies without an actual fight.

The enemies’ defeat in the conquest of Makkah is mentioned in Atharvaveda book 20 Hymn 21 verse no 9:

"You have O Indra, overthrown 20 kings and 60,099 men with an outstripping Chariot wheel who came to fight the praised one or far famed (Muhammad) orphan."

The population of Makkah at the time of Prophet’s advent was nearly 60,000

There were several clans in Makkah each having its own chief. Totally there were about 20 chiefs to rule the population of Makkah.

An Abandhu meaning a helpless man who was far-famed and ‘praised one’. Muhammad (pbuh) overcame his enemies with the help of God.

Muhammad (pbuh) prophesised in the Rigveda

A similar prophecy is also found in Rigveda Book I, Hymn 53 verse 9:

The Sanskrit word used is Sushrama, which means praiseworthy or well praised which in Arabic means Muhammad (pbuh).

Muhummad (pbuh) is also prophesised in the Samveda

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is also prophesised in the Samveda Book II Hymn 6 verse 8:

"Ahmed acquired from his Lord the knowledge of eternal law. I received light from him just as from the sun." The Prophecy confirms:

The name of the Prophet as Ahmed since Ahmed is an Arabic name. Many translators misunderstood it to be Ahm at hi and translated the mantra as "I alone have acquired the real wisdom of my father".

Prophet was given eternal law, i.e. the Shariah.

The Rishi was enlightened by the Shariah of Prophet Muhammad. The Qur’an says in Surah Saba chapter 34 verse 28

"We have not sent thee but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not."

[Al-Qur'an 34:28]

Reply:The second Question is easy. Binomial is looked at this way. You either are something or your not. so C and D are examples of this you either have taken stats or you havent. You either are an Ace or your not an Ace.

The first question is not worded very well. But your Null statement would be x1=x2 and your alternate would be x1%26lt;x2 this is where x1 would be the boys and x2 girls.

Unfortuantly this is where your stats book deviates from normal stats. It should ask for either a Confidence interval in which you would find (whatever data they want) or that just the plain question of can if be concluded that the boys team is taller than the girls with a (given confidence, usually .05) If your familiar with P values your p value is .00041308955. wish i could help more but the question is odd.

Linux [Ubuntu] Boot Problem?

ok not too long ago i finished the download and burning process of ubuntu for my laptop.

i decided to make the switch from windows to Linux.

i downloaded the iso and burned it to a CD using InfraRecorder

i put the CD in and it botted fine

a Ubuntu loading screen showed up and than the

Start/Install menu came up.

so i press enter to install it.

i get a error message that reads:

/bin/sh: can't access tty: job control tunned off

(initramfs)

i typed tty and it said /dev/console

im pretty sure its suppose to be /dev/tty

right? correct me if im wrong.

and if it is suppose to be tty how do i change it.

and i tried typing Break=top at the end of the boot options

at the install screen.

and than typing

modprobe piix

exit

i tried pressing CTRL + C did nothing.

any help would be great thanks.

Reply:I have a hunch... there shouldn't be any problem in the installing period. Especially like this. I think, that the Linux Cd was damaged at the downloading, converting, or burning sequence. I think you should borrow an install cd, witch has been used before, and I'm allmost sure, that there will be no problem

well i think the executable program can be corrupted.... maybe a virus.... try using antivirus....if it doesnt work... then try reinstalling the game... without uninstalling it.... but if insist on uninstalling.... you may do so.... besure to backup the saved data of the game.... (try looking at the installed folder or mydocuments)

if still doesnt work... then format the computer and reinstall in clean one.... dont forget to back up you data...

Programming language for mathematical applications?

I plan to develop graphical mathematical applications for simulations and calculation. Is C# on .NET 2.0 a good choice? I'm interested in Windows dev only and I wonder if performances are good enough for this type of applications. Also, what are my alternatives?

Multiple boot - XP, Server 2003, Linux Fedora Core 6 issue Please Help!?

I have XP, Server 2003, Linux FC6 installed. The problem is I don't want to use the grub boot loader, I want to use the windows boot.ini. When I installed Linux I did not want to write over the MBR for windows. Well I can't get into Linux to create a floppy and copy the boot sector to it like this:

$ dd if=/dev/hdb1 of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1

So I can point my boot.ini file to the linux boot loader which looks like this:

C:%26gt; attrib -s -r c:\boot.ini

C:\bootsect.lnx="Linux"

I have read thousands of articles and they all say the same thing. They say "Use the grub or get into linux and copy the boot sector". If anyone can help me do this I would really appreciate it. Again the problem is using windows boot loader and direct it to linux boot loader. Thanks

Its a general preference that if there is a windows and a linux os installed in your machine, people generally try to configure /boot/grub/grub.conf file.

The very reason behind is that linux takes care of both the os carefully compared to the booting file of any other os.

in your case its boot.ini for windows.

If your grub.conf file is not working, then you wont be able to enter the linux os.

you will get a prompt showing :

grub%26gt;

Read the manaul of grub properly and then you will be able configure the grub to enter the linux os which will be followed by the editing of the grub.conf file in a proper sequence

To get the boot loader configured using the windows, simply boot your computer with the windows cd and you will find the option to configure for the dual booting which will change the settings at boot.ini after getting your feedback.

Your freshman grades will not be included in your UC GPA calculation. The improving grade trend will be taken into consideration. Good job taking community college courses, continue to do that to help boost your GPA. Commit to couple of clubs and community services, don't switch (long term commitment is favored). Apply to as many UCs as you can afford to optimize your choices.
Reply:Your grades are pretty good. I'm pretty sure you can get into Davis and Irvine, and maybe even LA. All that depends on what your SAT's are and if you have any extracurricular activities. Also, it is imperative that you write a strong personal statement. Good luck!

Getting into a selective school with the class you got a A+ in high school...?

I'm interested in getting into a University that is located just 30 mins from me. It is a pretty selective school which is why I'm a little scared to apply to it because I don't know if I have a chance. I only have a couple of C's on my transcript and all the others are A's and B's. I want to major in Human Dev at UVM and turns out I did the Human Dev class last year in High School and I got a A+ in it (That is what it says on my Transcript).

Since I may not have the exact grades as a lot of people who go to UVM, do I have a good advantage since I got a A+ in that Human Dev class? OH! And I'm also going to a local career center for my Senior year next year for Human Services. Will that help also?

Neither and both. Both are easy until there is a problem. Windows has a lot more that is automatic, so I guess I'd say windows. But it also crashes more.

Windows %26amp; Linux are both fairly easy to use in most cases. Most people are used to Windows, but that doesn't make Linux any harder, just different.

Linux. Linux has two graphical user interfaces, Gnome and KDE. Gnome is slick, clean, and streamlined. KDE is more Windows-like, but with far greater control over the eye candy (the appearance of the windows, buttons, etc).

Both are very practical to use in a desktop enviroment. It simply comes down to personal taste.

Never. I moved away from windows and I'm not moving back again.

....- Windows very rarely gets updated (3 years, compared to every few months for most Linux distros),

....- Linux and all its software is opensource, so bugs are located and fixed by developers much quicker,

....- Linux uses advanced security which makes it much MUCH harder for any viruses or trojans to do serious harm.

....- Far less viruses and trojans exist for Linux in the first place.

....- Linux uses a package manager, which means that thousands of software titles can be installed from the web simply by browsing a categorised list of available titles and ticking the ones you want to install.

....- Most Linux distros are available on live CD, which means you can put the CD into the CD/DVD drive when the computer is starting and Linux will run entirely from the CD, without requiring installing. You can then evaluate it to see if you like it before deciding to install.

....- Linux is completely FREE! You don't pay for software updates or new versions or anything! It's all completely legal.
